This product includes the following (26 pages)
Retelling Bracelet & Bookmark
The retelling bracelet acts as a visual aid to help students improve their retelling skills. To create the bracelet, students will need a pipe cleaner, colored pony beads, and a copy of the retell bookmark. Each color of the retell bracelet represents a key element of retelling. Before assembling the bracelet, review the significance of each color in relation to different parts of the retelling process. Then, students can string the beads onto the pipe cleaner according to the colors associated with each retelling component. The retell bookmark serves as a handy reference, reminding students of the meaning behind each color and guiding them through the steps of effective retelling. Use pages 3 - 8 as anchor charts for your classroom
Retelling Rainbow
The Retelling Rainbow provides a hands on method for students to actively retell the stories they read. Students will color the Retelling Rainbow while narrating key components of the story.
Retelling Path
The Retelling Path is an engaging activity designed to enhance students' retelling skills in a fun and interactive way. Students get to choose their favorite game piece (bear, counter, etc) to embark on a journey through the retelling process. As they move their game piece along the path, students will retell the important parts of their story. This activity offers flexibility, allowing students to either orally share their retell with a friend or use the path as a guide during the writing process.
Retelling Road
The Retell Road is another fun way to get students retelling stories. Print, laminate, and cut the retelling houses. Then, place them on the classroom floor using tape. In between the houses, place road tape. Students will walk from house to house orally retelling each part of the story they read. This is great for students who are kinesthetic learners.
